Jammu, July 20, 2025 : Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have detained two individuals under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for their repeated involvement in unlawful activities and for disturbing public order.
Mohd Tahir, a resident of Achralla village in Reasi’s Mahore area and currently residing in Jammu’s Bhatindi, was booked under PSA and lodged in District Jail Kathua. According to police, Tahir has a history of criminal activities and multiple FIRs. Despite arrests and pending court cases, he continued to pose a threat to public peace. The PSA was invoked after routine legal action failed to deter his behavior.
In a separate case, Hafizullah of Nilote-Assar village in Doda district was also detained under PSA and shifted to Bhaderwah Jail. His detention followed an incident where he allegedly slaughtered a sacred animal and publicly displayed its remains, triggering communal tension. The action was taken to maintain public order and communal harmony, based on a police dossier submitted to the District Magistrate, Doda.
Police have urged citizens to uphold communal harmony and respect religious sentiments of all communities.
