Anantnag, March 9, 2026 : Principal and Dean of Government Medical College Anantnag, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, has been honoured with an appreciation award by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda for her exemplary services in promoting affordable healthcare and strengthening the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana.
The award was presented during a ceremony held in New Delhi on the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas. The event was attended by several dignitaries including Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel as Guest of Honour and Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals Manoj Joshi as Special Guest.
According to the official communication sent to the Principal Medical College office of Government Medical College Anantnag, the Jan Aushadhi Kendra operating under the college (PMBJK09614) was ranked among the top four Kendras in the country for achieving the highest purchase figures.
The recognition highlights the centre’s significant contribution in ensuring the availability of quality generic medicines at affordable prices, supporting the government’s vision of making healthcare accessible to all sections of society.
The ceremony, organised as part of nationwide celebrations of Jan Aushadhi Diwas, emphasised the role of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in expanding access to low-cost generic medicines and reducing healthcare expenses for the public.
Following the announcement, faculty members, doctors and staff of Government Medical College Anantnag expressed pride and appreciation.
