Unit GDC Sumbal in collaboration with Municipal Committee Sumbal organized Mega Swatchhata Drive
Sumbal: Under the umbrella of Clean India Campaign 2.0, NSS Unit of GDC Sumbal in collaboration with Municipal Committee Sumbal organized a mega Swatchhata drive in the college premises on Saturday.
On the directions of Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal, the drive was jointly flagged off by Prof. Bashir Ahmad Khan, senior most faculty of the college and Mr. Hafizullah, Sanitary Officer, Municipal Committee Sumbal.
Prof. Khan regarded cleancliness next to Godliness and stressed upon the need to be socially responsible and develop better civic sense by learning the proper disposal of the left overs.
NSS Program Officer, Dr. Aadil Mohi–ud–Din Shekh signalled the go ahead to the campaign.
Dr. Hilal Ahmad Wani drove the team by accompanying the boys volunteers and other team members from the MCS.
Dr. Aabida lead the drive by escorting the female volunteers. A huge number of NSS Volunteers and other students enthusiastically participated in the drive. During the drive around three (3) tractor loads of waste were collected in the college premises and ferried for proper disposal in the vehicles provided by Municipal Committee Sumbal.
The NSS volunteers could be seen sweeping the parks, and the paths along with the sweepers from the MCS. In the aftermath, a small function was organized in which many speakers drew the attention of the students towards the importance of cleanliness and ambient surroundings. Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Parrey, Khilafwarzi Supervisor of MCS exhorted on the students to check littering and avoid usage of plastics.
The Municipal Committee Sumbal also distributed dustbins which were later installed at various junctions in the college.
The function was concluded with a vote of thanks which was presented by Dr. Aabida Akhter, from GDC Sumbal. The other members who were present in the drive included Prof. Majida Maqbool, Dr. Riffat Basharat, Dr. Syed Shafia Aalam, Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Beigh, Dr. Mohammd Rafiq Lone, Prof. Suhail Ajmal, Abdul Hamid Reshi, Section Officer and all other teaching, non – teaching staff members of the college.
