Jammu, March 28, 2026 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday directed a massive crackdown on drug smuggling networks targeting the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, calling for urgent and coordinated action to dismantle the menace.
The directive came during a high-level review meeting of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at Lok Bhavan, where the LG expressed concern over “sinister efforts” to push youth into drug addiction.
Whole-of-Government Strategy
Sinha emphasized a multi-pronged approach involving:

🛡️ Preventive and awareness measures
🧠 Counselling, treatment & rehabilitation
📱 Monitoring of social media to counter misinformation
He stressed the need to completely dismantle the ecosystem of narco-terrorism operating in the region.

🚫 Launch mission-mode crackdown on drug peddlers
🎓 Introduce strong deterrents in educational institutions
👮 Identify and punish narco-terror elements within the system
🤝 Promote Jan Bhagidari (public participation) in anti-drug efforts
Citizens have been encouraged to report drug-related activities to authorities.
