Jammu, March 26, 2026 : The Jammu and Kashmir State Election Commission has initiated the annual revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll, setting April 1, 2026 as the qualifying date.
The revision will be conducted under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act 1989 and the Panchayati Raj Rules, 1996, ensuring an updated and accurate voter database for grassroots democracy.
Key Dates & Process
- 📅 March 27, 2026: Publication of last updated electoral roll in all Halqa Panchayats
- 📅 March 27 – April 29, 2026: Period for filing claims & objections
- 📅 May 8, 2026: Deadline for disposal of claims
- 📅 May 15, 2026: Final electoral roll publication
The revision will be based on the existing integrated electoral roll, with necessary updates including:
