COLOMBO, OCTOBER 06, 2026 : Sri Lankan police have arrested eight Indian nationals for allegedly engaging in illegal online gambling, authorities said on Tuesday.
The suspects, aged between 22 and 51, were arrested following a police raid at a house in Thalawathugoda, in the Colombo suburbs.
Police Raid Follows Tip-Off
According to police, officers from the Thalangama Police conducted the raid on Sunday after receiving information that an illegal online gambling operation was allegedly being conducted from the residence.
During the operation, police seized computers and mobile phones believed to be relevant to the investigation.
Investigation Underway
The eight suspects remain under investigation as authorities work to establish the nature and extent of the alleged gambling operation.
Police have not provided further details about the online platform allegedly being used or the specific gambling activities involved.
