Jammu, August 23, 2025 : Two persons lost their lives and two others were injured in separate rain-triggered incidents in Reasi and Kathua districts on Saturday, officials said.
In Reasi, Shahbaz Ahmad of Jamlan village died while Javed Ahmad and Abdul Gani were injured after their truck was hit by a landslide near Malai Nallah in Mahore around 2:30 am. The injured were rescued and shifted to hospital.
In Kathua, a man identified as Ravi drowned when his car was swept away by flash floods while crossing an overflowing stream near Dreamland Park. His body was later retrieved by SDRF and police.
Meanwhile, at least 20 passengers, including students, sustained injuries after a private bus overturned near a bridge in Arnia, R S Pura. The bus was headed to Jammu when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to skid off the road and overturn in a field. Officials said four of the injured are in “serious” condition.
