Jammu, August 24, 2025 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is arriving in Jammu to meet victims of the recent cloudburst in Kishtwar’s Chisoti village, Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha said on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, where he met the injured, the LG said the Defence Minister will review the situation and, if weather permits, may visit the affected village. “Otherwise, he will meet the injured here before returning to Delhi,” Sinha said.
The August 14 cloudburst left 65 dead, over 100 injured, and 32 still missing, officials said. Sixteen patients are currently under treatment at GMC, all reported to be stable.
The LG said ₹4.13 crore has already been spent on relief and rehabilitation. “Both the J&K administration and the Centre are committed to ensuring proper rehabilitation of all affected families,” he assured.
