Srinagar, Sep 11, 2025 : In a landmark initiative, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India) and the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir to construct 1,500 free smart houses for families affected by Operation Sindoor, recent floods, and terror attacks.
The three-bedroom houses will be equipped with modern amenities, digital connectivity, and life insurance coverage for 15 years. Additionally, beneficiaries will receive monthly health check-ups, free internet access in collaboration with BSNL, and periodic awareness sessions on health, education, and hygiene. The program also includes repainting of houses every five years at no cost.
LG Sinha emphasized the initiative as a step toward providing a fresh start for affected families and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their welfare and empowerment.
