Srinagar, October 15, 2025 : Srinagar Police have arrested three persons involved in the brutal axe attack on a youth in the Qamarwari area of the city, just a day after the incident.

The victim, Noman Yaqoob Khanday, was attacked near Haroon Bakery at Hilal Abad, Qamarwari, on October 14. Following the attack, his father, Mohammad Yaqoob Khanday of Bilal Colony, reported the matter to Police Post Qamarwari.

Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – Sections 126(2), 115(2), and 109 – at Police Station Parimpora and launched an intensive investigation.

During the probe, multiple areas were cordoned off, CCTV footage reviewed, and vehicle details verified, leading to the identification and arrest of the accused — Sahil Yaqoob Grustoo, Farooq alias Farhan Ahmad Dar, and Bilal Ahmad Guroo, all residents of Boatman Colony, Bemina.

“All three were apprehended during overnight raids, and the weapon of offence (axe) has been recovered,” police confirmed.

Preliminary findings suggest a personal grudge as the motive behind the assault, though further investigation is underway to explore other angles.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order, stating that no leniency will be shown towards those involved in such violent acts.
