Srinagar, October 18, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid obeisance to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha at the Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery—also known as the Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni—in Elista, Kalmykia, Russia.
LG Sinha is leading the Indian delegation to bring back the holy relics after their week-long exposition in Elista.
During his interaction with revered monks, the Lieutenant Governor said the affection and reverence shown by the people of Kalmykia and visitors from across Russia “is a rare gesture that has left an indelible mark on our hearts.”
“The holy relics of Buddha are revered as the Buddha himself. His presence here has blessed the people of Kalmykia and all of Russia. India takes immense pride in his timeless teachings of compassion, wisdom, and non-violence,” LG Sinha said.
He also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s consistent efforts to promote Buddha’s universal message at global forums, adding that the teachings of Buddha must be further ingrained among the youth for a harmonious and peaceful world.
