New Delhi, October 25, 2025 : In a move aimed at improving regional connectivity, the Northern Railways has announced an additional stoppage for the Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express at Reasi station starting October 29, on an experimental basis.
At present, the semi-high-speed train — connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Jammu region — halts only at Banihal between Katra and Srinagar. Responding to public demand, the Railways decided to provide an additional two-minute halt at Reasi in both directions.
“The locals said that the train has only one stoppage between Katra and Srinagar, and more stoppages should be given for the convenience of regional passengers. The Railways decided to give one more stoppage at Reasi on an experimental basis,” an official said.
According to an official order, the Commercial Department has been directed to closely monitor ticket sales at Reasi station and submit a review report within five months.
“The stoppage should not be withdrawn unless advised by this office,” the order noted.
The Vande Bharat Express service between Katra and Srinagar was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, marking the first train link between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley.
Since its launch, the route has witnessed a tremendous response from travellers, transforming travel between the two regions. The new Reasi halt, introduced on local demand, marks the first operational modification to the service since its inauguration.
