Kishtwar, November 3, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of ‘smart houses’ for families affected by the August 14 cloudburst in Chisoti village, Kishtwar.
A total of 19 fully damaged homes will be rebuilt free of cost with assistance from High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India). The disaster had claimed 65 lives, mostly Machail Mata pilgrims, and left over 100 injured.
“These prefabricated three-bedroom smart houses will help bring affected families back on track,” LG Sinha said, commending HRDS India for their humanitarian support.
Each house will feature a steel structural framework, fibre cement boards, and powder-coated GI sheets, designed to withstand harsh climatic conditions and ensure safety, durability, and comfort.
LG Sinha also announced several development initiatives for Paddar-Kishtwar, including:
-
Army Goodwill School and a petrol pump sanctioned by the Centre.
-
Reconstruction of Atholi–Machail Mata Road and a new bridge in Chisoti by BRO.
-
Installation of new 4G towers to remove network black spots.
The Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed his government’s commitment to rehabilitation and development under PM Narendra Modi’s guidance, lauding the resilience of Chisoti’s people and the efforts of emergency responders.
