Srinagar, November 12, 2025 : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday attached the residential property of former Kashmir Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoom in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act).
Officials said the property, a two-storeyed house located at Bul Bul Bagh, Barzulla, was attached under Sections 38 and 39 of the UAPA. The action was taken under the orders of Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat.
“In exercise of powers conferred by Section 25 of UAPA, prior approval is accorded for attachment of the two-storeyed residential house along with land measuring two kanals, one marla, and 90 sqft at Bul Bul Bagh, Barzulla, Srinagar,” the order reads.
The attachment is linked to FIR No. 157/2009 registered at Police Station Shaheed Gunj under Sections 120, 120-B, 121, and 153-A of the Ranbir Penal Code and Sections 13, 38, and 39 of the UAPA.
The order states that investigation has prima facie established that Qayoom used his residence for concealing incriminatory material and furthering terrorist activities.
“The said property, registered under mutation number 338 in the name of Mian Abdul Qayoom, falls within the ambit of ‘proceeds of terrorism’ under Section 2(g) of the UAPA and is liable for attachment,” the order added.
Qayoom, currently lodged in jail, is facing charges in the murder case of advocate Babar Qadri.
