Jammu, November 12, 2025 : In a major breakthrough, Jammu Police have arrested a man who had been on the run for 26 years in connection with a fatal rash driving case, following his deportation from the United Kingdom to India, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Naveen Kousha, a resident of Ropar in Punjab, was wanted in a 1999 case registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station under Sections 304-A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), and 337 RPC (causing injuries).
A warrant under Section 512 CrPC had been issued by the Court of Munsiff, Jammu after Kousha went absconding the same year. During this time, he reportedly settled abroad and obtained UK citizenship, officials said.
After years of tracking, Jhajjar Kotli Police, in coordination with multiple agencies, successfully apprehended the accused upon his deportation from the UK.
Police termed the arrest a major achievement in their ongoing drive against absconders and proclaimed offenders, reaffirming their commitment to justice, accountability, and the rule of law.
