New Delhi, November 13, 2025 : In a major development in the Red Fort blast investigation, DNA test results have confirmed that Dr. Umar Nabi was driving the car that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this week, police sources said on Thursday.

DNA samples of Umar’s mother, collected on Tuesday, were matched with the biological remains recovered from the blast site. “The results conclusively establish that Umar was behind the wheel of the vehicle that exploded,” a senior source confirmed.

Umar, a resident of Koil village in Pulwama, was identified as a key member of a “white-collar” terror module recently busted by police. The module had links with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) and was reportedly planning coordinated attacks across states.

Just hours after the network’s bust — which led to the arrest of eight individuals, including three doctors — a high-intensity blast ripped through a slow-moving car near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, killing several people and injuring others.

Investigators revealed that the module had been stockpiling explosives, including 3,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate, and sulphur, across multiple hideouts in Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Authorities said the findings further underscore the deep nexus between radicalized professionals and terror outfits, and vowed to continue dismantling such covert networks operating under civilian cover.
