POONCH, November 13, 2025 : In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Poonch Police attached property worth ₹1.11 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler, as part of its intensified drive against the illicit narco trade in the district.
According to a police spokesperson, the action was taken in connection with FIR No. 178/2025 registered at Police Station Poonch under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The attached property, standing in the name of the accused’s wife Shahnaz Kouser, includes a three-storey under-construction building on Khasra No. 2093, measuring 10 marla at Kamsar, with an approximate value of ₹1.11 crore. The property belongs to Mohd Iqbal, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Seri Khwaja A/P Kamsar.
Officials said the attachment was carried out under the provisions of the NDPS Act, and the competent authority (SAFEMA) has been duly informed.
The police emphasized that such financial strikes aim to cripple the drug economy, sending a strong message that those involved in narcotics trade will face strict legal and economic consequences.
Reaffirming its commitment to making the district drug-free, Poonch Police urged citizens to share credible information regarding drug peddling or related activities, assuring that the identity of informants will remain confidential.
