Jammu, November 13, 2025 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday condemned the Delhi blast and called for the harshest punishment for those responsible, while urging authorities not to target innocent Kashmiris in the name of investigation.

Speaking to reporters in Jammu, Abdullah said, “Those who are guilty should be given the strictest punishment, and innocent people should not get caught in it. No amount of condemnation is enough for this incident. The brutal killing of innocent people in such a manner is extremely shameful. No one can justify such an act.”

The November 10 blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, carried out in an explosives-laden car driven by Dr Umar Nabi from Pulwama, killed 12 people and injured several others. The attack has been linked to a ‘white collar’ Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module operating across Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, with eight arrests, including seven Kashmiris.

Abdullah strongly rejected the notion that the entire population of Jammu and Kashmir should be viewed with suspicion.

“Every resident of Jammu and Kashmir is not a terrorist. It is only a handful of people who have tried to disturb the peace and harmony here,” he said.
“When we begin to look at every Kashmiri Muslim through the same lens and give the impression that all are terrorists, it becomes very difficult to keep things on track.”

On the arrest of Dr Arif Nisar Dar, a former SMHS Hospital doctor dismissed in 2023 for alleged terror links, Abdullah questioned the authorities’ earlier inaction.

“If there was evidence against him, why wasn’t it presented in court? Merely dismissing someone doesn’t end the matter — and today, we are seeing the result of that,” he said.

The chief minister reiterated that justice must be swift and fair, balancing national security with citizens’ rights.
