Srinagar, November 18, 2025 : The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Tuesday launched coordinated pre-dawn raids across several locations in the Valley—including Srinagar, Anantnag and Kulgam—as part of a major investigation into an emerging terror recruitment network targeting women.
According to official sources, the searches are linked to a newly registered case involving individuals accused of promoting terrorism, glorifying militant violence, and radicalising women for recruitment into terror ranks under the guidance of Pakistan-based handlers.
Hospital Among Raided Locations
Searches were also conducted inside the Super Speciality Hospital, Shireen Bagh, Srinagar, officials confirmed. All operations were carried out under court-issued search warrants.
JeM–DeM Nexus Uncovered
Investigators have reportedly uncovered a significant nexus between Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) and the banned women-centric organisation Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), formerly led by Asiya Andrabi, who has been jailed since 2018.
Sources revealed that:
-
Dr. Umar Farooq and his wife Shehzaada were allegedly involved in motivating and recruiting women across Kashmir.
-
The couple was purportedly acting on directives from JeM handlers across the border.
-
Shehzaada was being used to revive DeM’s activities in Andrabi’s absence.
Online Radicalisation Under Probe
CIK is also investigating a digital recruitment and radicalisation module, believed to be operating through:
-
Dark-web channels
-
Encrypted social media groups
-
OGW (Overground Worker) networks
During the ongoing searches, officials seized incriminating evidence, including radical content and jihadi literature specifically aimed at women.
Arrests Expected
The raids are still in progress, and officials said multiple arrests are likely as the investigation advances. Further updates are awaited.
