JAMMU, December 5, 2025 : The Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, on Thursday visited forward areas in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir to review the operational readiness of troops and assess the prevailing security situation along the sensitive sector.
During the visit to Haribudha area of Poonch, the Army Commander was comprehensively briefed by field commanders on the existing security scenario and ongoing counter-terrorism operations. The briefing focused on enhanced surveillance measures, rapid response mechanisms, strengthened domination drills, and the integration of advanced technology and innovative tactics to counter emerging threats.
The Northern Command, in a post on X, stated that Lt Gen Pratik Sharma assessed the preparedness of the units deployed in the sector and reviewed the effectiveness of operational strategies being implemented on the ground.
The Army Commander lauded the troops for their unwavering dedication, high level of preparedness, and professional excellence while operating in difficult and challenging terrain. He noted that their role remains critical in maintaining a robust security grid and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
The visit also served to boost the morale of the soldiers and reiterated the Indian Army’s firm commitment towards safeguarding national security and maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
