Jammu, February 10, 2026 : The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday said a proposal to enhance the monthly honorarium of Personal Assistants (PAs) engaged with Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) is under examination.
The information was shared by the Finance Department in a written reply to a question raised by Congress leader and legislator Tariq Hameed Karra in the Assembly.
Karra had sought to know whether PAs attached to MLAs had demanded an increase in their monthly honorarium along with benefits such as TA/DA at par with the staff of other parliamentarians, and if so, the details and timeline for consideration.
In its response, the department stated, “A proposal has been received from the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department regarding enhancement of the monthly honorarium of Personal Assistants engaged with Hon’ble MLAs. The proposal is under examination in the Finance Department.”
