New Delhi, February 11, 2026 : The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of inter-cadre deputation tenure of two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to the AGMUT Cadre (Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir), according to official orders issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
In separate orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the ACC granted a one-year extension to Shri Basharat Qayoom, IAS (Jharkhand: 2016 batch), extending his deputation to the AGMUT Cadre beyond February 23, 2026, in relaxation of the extant policy. The approval was issued on February 10, 2026, following a reference from the DoPT dated January 28, 2026.
In another order dated February 6, 2026, the ACC approved a one-year extension of inter-cadre deputation for Shri Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan, IAS (Rajasthan: 2016 batch) to the AGMUT Cadre, extending his tenure beyond February 15, 2026, also in relaxation of the existing policy.
Both extensions were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and formally issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
