Jammu, February 11, 2026: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that the process of regularisation of residential colonies in Jammu had been initiated earlier and that the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) had already regularised 31 colonies before the process was subsequently stayed by the High Court.
In a written reply to a question raised by BJP MLA Sham Lal Sharma in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly regarding the regularisation of illegal colonies, Abdullah—who also holds charge of the Housing and Urban Development Department—said the regularisation exercise was carried out in accordance with multiple government orders issued between 1974 and 2009, as well as directions passed by the court in 2010.
“The process of regularisation of residential colonies in Jammu was initiated earlier and 31 colonies have already been regularised by the JDA. However, the process was later stayed by the High Court,” the Chief Minister informed the House.
