Jammu, February 17, 2026 : In a serious security breach, three inmates, including two Pakistani nationals, escaped from a juvenile home in the border belt of R S Pura, Jammu, on Monday after allegedly attacking and injuring two police personnel on duty, officials said.

The incident occurred around 5:15 pm at the juvenile home, triggering immediate alarm within police and security circles.

According to officials, the escapees have been identified as Karajeet Singh alias Gugga, a resident of Dablehar in R S Pura, and two Pakistani nationals — Mohammad Suna-ullah and Ahsan Anwar.

“The three inmates allegedly attacked the policemen on duty before fleeing the facility,” a police official said.

Two Policemen Injured

During the attack, SPO Vinay and Head Constable Praveen sustained injuries. Both were immediately shifted to hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable. Police have taken cognisance of the incident and registered a case to probe the circumstances leading to the escape.

Firing Inside Juvenile Home Raises Alarm

Adding to public concern, a purported video surfaced on social media showing gangster Karajeet Singh, reportedly linked to the Khauff gang, allegedly firing multiple rounds inside the juvenile home.

Police are now investigating how a locally-made pistol managed to reach the inmate inside a high-security juvenile facility, terming it a grave lapse.

Top Police Brass Rush to Spot

Following the incident, Nalin Prabhat, Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, along with Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti, and other senior officers rushed to the spot to assess the situation and review security arrangements.

Search Operations Intensified

Police have constituted special teams and launched raids at multiple locations across Jammu district and adjoining areas to track down the escapees. Border checkpoints and vulnerable routes have been put on high alert.

Officials said a detailed inquiry is underway to:

  • Ascertain security lapses at the juvenile home

  • Trace the source of the weapon

  • Fix accountability for the breach

The escape of foreign nationals from a juvenile facility in a sensitive border area has raised serious security concerns, prompting heightened vigilance across the region.

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
