Srinagar, February 27, 2026 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said that the discharge of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders in the excise policy case has exposed what she termed as the “high-handedness” of investigative agencies.
In a post on X, Mufti stated that the court’s decision to discharge Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and others including K. Kavitha reflects misuse of power by probe agencies.
“No prima facie case. No credible evidence. Yet years of incarceration. Nothing is more dangerous than the misuse of power and the weaponisation of institutions. Yet somehow it continues unabated,” she wrote.
Court Refuses to Take Cognisance of Chargesheet
In a significant development, a Delhi court discharged Kejriwal and Sisodia in the politically sensitive liquor policy case, refusing to take cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Besides the two senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders, 21 others were also discharged in the case.
Mufti alleged that when investigative agencies are “wielded like political swords,” justice suffers and truth emerges only after prolonged legal battles.
The court’s order is being seen as a major relief for the AAP leadership amid long-standing legal and political controversy surrounding the excise policy case.
