Jammu, March 23, 2026 : Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma on Monday visited Kishtwar district to review the security situation and operational preparedness, while commending troops for their professionalism in challenging conditions.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma held detailed discussions with field commanders and interacted with troops deployed in the sector. He appreciated their sustained efforts, resilience, and effective conduct of operations in difficult terrain and adverse weather.
The Northern Command, in a post on X, stated that the Army Commander emphasized maintaining momentum and ensuring seamless coordination with other security agencies to uphold peace and stability in the region.
The visit comes in the backdrop of a major success against Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, which suffered significant losses in Kishtwar over the past year. In a series of operations conducted in high-altitude areas, seven highly trained terrorists were neutralized, including most-wanted commander Saifullah, who was killed on February 22.
Officials said the operations demonstrated the Army’s sustained focus and capability in counter-terror efforts, particularly in remote and difficult terrains.
Reinforcing the importance of vigilance, Lt Gen Sharma urged troops to continue their coordinated efforts to ensure long-term peace and security in the region.
