JAMMU, April 3, 2026 : To manage the expected surge in pilgrim and tourist traffic during the summer season, the Northern Railway has announced 40 additional runs of a special train between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
The decision was confirmed by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, who said the extension from April 15 to July 16 was approved due to the train’s immense popularity and 100% occupancy during previous runs.
Train Schedule & Operations
- Train No. 04081 (New Delhi → Katra):
Will run from April 15 to July 15, completing 40 trips. - Train No. 04082 (Katra → New Delhi):
Will operate from April 16 to July 16, also completing 40 runs.
Timings
- Train 04081 will depart from New Delhi at 11:45 PM and reach Katra at 12:00 PM the next day.
- Train 04082 will leave Katra at 9:00 PM and arrive in New Delhi at 10:00 AM the following morning.
Major Halts
The special train will stop at key stations in both directions, including:
Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu, and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan railway station.
Boost for Pilgrimage & Tourism
Officials said the service will benefit not only devotees visiting the revered shrine in Katra but also tourists heading towards Kashmir and passengers boarding from intermediate stations.
With 21 coaches, the train is expected to significantly improve ticket availability, offering an affordable and convenient travel option during the peak season.
