KULGAM, April 6, 2026 : In a major anti-narcotics crackdown, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kulgam has registered 10 FIRs under the NDPS Act over the past three weeks, leading to the arrest of 14 drug peddlers and recovery of significant quantities of contraband.
Major Seizures
Police recovered:
- 415.61 grams Heroin
- 1,348 grams Charas (including powder)
- 1.5 kg Bhang Patri
- ₹1,37,990 cash
Multiple Police Stations Involved
- 9 FIRs registered at Qazigund Police Station
- 1 FIR at Devsar Police Station
Inter-District Drug Network Busted
Investigations revealed strong backward and forward linkages, exposing a larger organised narcotics syndicate operating across districts.
A key breakthrough came when a backward linkage led to Jammu, where additional heroin was recovered, confirming the existence of an inter-district trafficking network.

Major recoveries were made from multiple accused at locations including:
- Furrah & Khrewan (Charas powder seizures)
- Nassu Badragund (Charas)
- Kurigam (Heroin & cash)
- New Colony Kurigam (Bhang Patri)
- Doru Crossing (Heroin & ₹85,000 cash)
- Nawa Qazigund (Heroin, Charas & cash)
- Cheyan (Cannabis from motorcycle)
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Senior Superintendent of Police Anayat Ali Choudhary reiterated a zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking, warning strict action against all involved.
He also appealed to the public to share information confidentially to help curb the menace.

Police said operations will continue with enhanced surveillance and enforcement to dismantle narcotics networks and ensure a drug-free society.
