NEW DELHI, April 6, 2026 : The National Investigation Agency has launched a major probe into arms and ammunition smuggling through drones across the India–Pakistan border, pointing to a larger terror conspiracy with national and international links.
Acting on directions from the Union Home Ministry, the agency has registered a case against a Pakistan-based operative Jasvir Chaudhary, his Indian associate Shubham Kumar, and other unidentified individuals suspected of being part of the network.
According to officials, the case originated from an FIR registered by the Punjab Police in February after the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar received intelligence inputs. The inputs revealed that drones were being used to drop large consignments of arms, ammunition, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) across the border.
Investigations suggest that the consignments were intended to be used for carrying out terror attacks in multiple locations, including Punjab, Delhi, and other parts of the country.
The Home Ministry, citing the gravity of the case, its cross-border dimensions, and potential threats to national security, transferred the probe to the NIA to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy.
Officials believe the case involves a coordinated effort by foreign elements to destabilize security using advanced smuggling techniques like drone drops, highlighting a growing challenge for border security forces.
The probe is ongoing, with agencies working to identify the entire network and prevent any possible terror strikes.
