Anantnag, April 16, 2026 : In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has busted a drug racket in Anantnag district, arresting six drug peddlers and seizing over 13 kilograms of charas, along with a small quantity of heroin.
According to police officials, multiple coordinated operations were carried out across south Kashmir, leading to the registration of five separate cases and the arrest of the accused involved in drug trafficking.
Key Operations & Recoveries:
- A raid in Srigufwara led to the recovery of around 2 kg of charas from a suspect’s residence
- During naka checking at Shakras, another accused was caught with 2 kg of charas
- At Pethnoo Crossing, police seized an additional 2 kg of contraband from another individual
- Near Iqbal Market, authorities intercepted a vehicle and recovered 12 grams of heroin from two الأشخاص
- In a major seizure at K.V Pora Marhama near NH-44, police recovered approximately 7.854 kg of charas from a suspect
All accused have been taken into custody, and further investigations are currently underway.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-narcotics operations, emphasizing strict action against those involved in drug trafficking to protect youth and promote a drug-free society.
