Samba, April 22, 2026 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday inaugurated a ₹200 crore manufacturing plant of Eveready Industries India in Samba, marking a significant step in Jammu and Kashmir’s industrial growth story.
Highlighting the transformation since the 2021 New Industrial Policy, the Lt Governor said J&K has witnessed a massive surge in investments and startup growth. He noted that in FY 2025-26 alone, the Union Territory attracted ₹5,824 crore in investments — over 13 times the pre-2021 average.
Sinha emphasized that the new Eveready plant will generate employment, boost local businesses, support ancillary industries, and create opportunities for youth and women. The facility is expected to produce up to 360 million alkaline batteries annually, contributing to the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision.
He also pointed out that startups in J&K have grown from just 69 in 2020 to over 1,300 in 2025-26, reflecting a remarkable rise in entrepreneurial activity.
Calling it a “new era of development,” Sinha said the industrial expansion across regions like Samba, Kathua, and Jammu symbolizes transformation and progress. In a strong message, he added that while neighbouring countries promote instability, India is focused on growth, investment, and nation-building.
