SRINAGAR, May 8, 2026 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today praised the timely and coordinated efforts of the Army and Civil Administration in successfully rescuing tourists stranded in the upper reaches of Gulmarg after a private helicopter developed a technical snag.
The incident triggered an immediate rescue response, with multiple agencies working in close coordination to ensure the safe evacuation of all tourists from the affected area. The swift action undertaken by rescue teams helped avert any major crisis and ensured the safety and well-being of the stranded visitors.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commended the professionalism, dedication, and preparedness displayed by the Army personnel and civil authorities during the operation. He stated that the successful rescue reflects the administration’s commitment to public safety and efficient emergency response mechanisms in Jammu and Kashmir’s tourist destinations.
