JAMMU, May 21, 2026 : In a significant move towards enhancing judicial transparency and digital accessibility, the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has constituted a high-level committee for the operationalization and implementation of the Live Streaming and Recording of Court Proceedings Rules, 2023.
According to an official order issued by the Office of the Registrar General at Srinagar, Hon’ble the Chief Justice has approved the formation of the committee to identify the nature and categories of cases where live streaming of court proceedings can initially be introduced.
The committee comprises the following Hon’ble Judges:
▪️ Justice Sanjeev Kumar
▪️ Justice Sindhu Sharma
▪️ Justice Rajnesh Oswal
▪️ Justice Sanjay Dhar
▪️ Justice Rahul Bharti
The order further stated that Shri Faizan I Nazar, Central Project Coordinator of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, has been nominated as the Presenting Officer of the committee.
The committee has been entrusted with preparing a comprehensive roadmap for the effective implementation of live streaming and recording mechanisms in accordance with the 2023 Rules.
The initiative is being viewed as a major step towards strengthening transparency, accountability and technological integration within the justice delivery system across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Legal experts believe that live streaming of court proceedings can improve public access to judicial processes, enhance legal awareness and promote openness in the functioning of courts while maintaining procedural safeguards.
