JAMMU, May 23, 2026 : Police briefly halted an ongoing demolition drive on the outskirts of Jammu city on Saturday to respectfully retrieve two tabletop national flags from a building before resuming the operation, officials said.
According to officials, the incident took place in the Miran Sahib area during a demolition drive targeting properties allegedly linked to a suspected drug peddler identified as Bablu.
Officials said police personnel ensured that the Tricolour was removed from the structure with dignity and proper respect before the demolition work continued.
“The police officials stopped the demolition for a brief period and ensured that the Tricolour was taken out of the building with due respect before the operation continued,” an official said.
A purported video of the incident surfaced on social media showing a policeman entering the building during the demolition operation to retrieve the national flags.
Officials informed that the demolition team, led by Sub-Inspector Rinku Sharma, paused the operation and deputed a policeman to safely bring out the flags from inside the building before resuming the drive.
The demolition was part of an ongoing crackdown against properties allegedly linked to drug peddling and illegal narcotics networks in the region.
