SRINAGAR, May 26, 2026 : Jammu & Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Tuesday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess preparedness for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha celebrations and Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 (SANJY-2026).
The meeting was attended by senior officers from Jammu & Kashmir Police, CRPF, ITBP, Traffic Police, Railways and other security agencies.
During the meeting, the DGP emphasised the importance of peaceful Eid celebrations and directed officers to ensure effective crowd management arrangements at mosques and major congregation venues across the Valley.
He instructed field officers to strengthen security measures, intensify surveillance, conduct random inspections in vulnerable areas and increase patrolling to prevent overcrowding and address potential security concerns during the festive period.
Senior officers also presented detailed briefings regarding the proposed security, logistical and preparedness arrangements for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
Officials from paramilitary and other security agencies highlighted the importance of close coordination and operational synergy among all departments involved in the yatra security grid.
The officers further briefed the DGP regarding administrative and logistical arrangements for incoming Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) companies. DGP Prabhat directed district heads to ensure proper accommodation, deployment and operational support for all incoming units.
Stressing the need for robust security management, the DGP directed strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and proactive measures to counter any potential threats.
He also instructed field formations to intensify operations aimed at dismantling the terror ecosystem and strengthening area domination along the pilgrimage routes to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims.
Directions were additionally issued for deployment of anti-sabotage teams along with the use of advanced surveillance systems and real-time monitoring mechanisms to enhance threat detection and emergency response capabilities.
