SRINAGAR, June 3, 2026 : In a major counter-terrorism operation, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday conducted coordinated raids across six districts of the Kashmir Valley in connection with an ongoing terror-related investigation.
According to officials, the searches were carried out in the early hours of June 3 following recent intelligence inputs, technical surveillance, and sustained investigations that helped identify multiple suspects and locations linked to unlawful activities.
A total of eight locations were searched during the operation. The raids were conducted at two locations each in Srinagar and Bandipora districts, while one location each was searched in Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam, and Baramulla districts.
Officials stated that the case, originally registered in 2015, relates to Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organizations and their sleeper-cell networks operating in Jammu and Kashmir. The investigation focuses on activities involving recruitment of local youth, radicalization efforts, facilitation of terrorist operations, and support networks working on behalf of terror outfits.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects under investigation were allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based terrorist handlers through encrypted communication platforms. Authorities suspect their involvement in spreading extremist propaganda, promoting radical ideologies, and assisting activities aimed at disturbing peace and security in the region.
The raids form part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle terror-support structures, identify sleeper-cell operatives, and curb the use of digital platforms for radicalization and recruitment. Officials emphasized that investigations are continuing and further action will be taken based on evidence gathered during the searches.
The operation underscores the continued vigilance of security agencies against terror networks and their attempts to exploit technology and covert communication channels to sustain anti-national activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
