JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 14, 2026 ; Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command, on Monday visited forward areas in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir to assess the prevailing security situation and review the operational preparedness of Army units deployed in the area.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma took stock of the security dynamics and operational readiness of the troops, with an emphasis on maintaining a high level of vigilance and combat preparedness.
Troops Commended for Commitment
According to the Northern Command, the Army Commander commended the troops for their “relentless resolve and formidable spirit” in safeguarding the nation.
He also encouraged personnel across ranks to continuously pursue excellence in operational capability and remain vigilant, responsive and combat-ready at all times.

The visit comes amid heightened focus on security and operational preparedness along sensitive areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
