RAJOURI, June 6, 2026 : A massive joint anti-terror operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has entered its fourteenth consecutive day in the dense forested areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district, as security forces continue efforts to track down suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the region.
The operation, code-named “Operation Sheruwali,” was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of suspected militants in the forest belt and surrounding areas.
Security agencies have since maintained an extensive search and surveillance operation aimed at locating and neutralizing any potential threat while preventing suspects from escaping the designated search zones.
As part of the ongoing operation, security personnel have established checkpoints and intensified area domination measures across vulnerable routes. Forces were seen conducting thorough verification drives, checking identification documents of travelers and local residents, and monitoring movement in and around the operational area.
Officials said the strategy is focused on creating a multi-layered security grid to effectively contain the suspected terrorists within the targeted zones while specialized search teams comb dense forests, rugged terrain and remote hideouts.
The challenging topography of the region, characterized by thick vegetation, steep slopes and difficult terrain, has made the operation particularly complex. However, security forces continue to maintain a high level of vigilance and operational pressure.
According to officials, the coordinated operation involves close cooperation between the Army, Police and CRPF, with all agencies sharing intelligence and resources to ensure the success of the mission.
The prolonged operation underscores the security forces’ determination to eliminate terrorist threats and maintain peace and stability in the border district of Rajouri, which has witnessed heightened counter-terrorism activities in recent years.
Authorities have urged local residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest security establishment.
The search operation remains underway, with forces continuing to intensify efforts to locate the suspected terrorists and secure the area.
