RAJOURI, June 8, 2026 : At least 15 passengers sustained injuries after a passenger bus overturned on a highway near Rajouri town in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.
The accident occurred at Tandwal when the bus, carrying passengers from Rajouri to Manjakote, reportedly lost control and overturned along the roadside. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
Soon after the mishap, local residents and volunteers rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured passengers were promptly evacuated and shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC)-Associated Hospital, Rajouri, for medical treatment.
Hospital authorities said the injured were provided immediate medical care, while officials continue to monitor their condition. No fatalities were reported in the incident.
Police have taken cognizance of the accident and initiated necessary proceedings to determine the circumstances that led to the bus overturning.
The incident once again highlights the importance of road safety measures and cautious driving on the region’s highways, particularly in hilly areas prone to traffic accidents.
