SRINAGAR, June 8, 2026 : In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking in Kashmir, Srinagar Police on Monday attached immovable properties worth nearly ₹4 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The action forms part of the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan” aimed at dismantling drug networks and curbing substance abuse across the Valley.

According to police officials, Police Station Sangam attached properties valued at approximately ₹3 crore belonging to Gulam Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, in connection with FIR No. 14/2026 registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act. The attached assets include a residential house, commercial shops, and several parcels of land.

Investigations conducted by the police revealed that the properties were allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking. Based on these findings, authorities initiated attachment proceedings under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act to prevent the use of such assets for further illegal activities.

In a separate operation, Police Station Nowhatta attached a residential property worth approximately ₹1 crore belonging to Mohd Shafi Sheikh, son of Late Mohd Subhan Sheikh, in connection with FIR No. 09/2018 registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act. Police identified the property as an illegally acquired asset allegedly created through income generated from drug-related activities.

Officials stated that the attachment of these properties is intended to prevent their concealment, transfer, or disposal and to strike directly at the financial backbone of narcotics trafficking networks operating in the region.

Reaffirming its commitment to eradicating the drug menace, Srinagar Police emphasized that strict action will continue not only against drug traffickers but also against assets accumulated through criminal proceeds. The department reiterated that targeting the economic foundations of the narcotics trade remains a key strategy under the anti-drug campaign.

Police also appealed to citizens to actively support law enforcement efforts and participate in the collective mission of building a drug-free and healthier Kashmir.

The latest action underscores the authorities’ resolve to dismantle organized drug networks and ensure that proceeds of crime do not remain beyond the reach of the law.
