RAMBAN, June 11, 2026 : In a significant traffic advisory for commuters, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will remain closed during night hours from June 12 to June 17, 2026, to facilitate urgent repair and relaying works in the Ramban sector.
Official sources said that the District Administration Ramban has ordered a temporary night-time closure of the highway stretch at Nachlana following a request from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), PIU Ramban.
According to an order issued by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Ramban, the decision has been taken to enable bituminous relaying and road improvement works at several vulnerable locations along the highway.
The repair works are being undertaken in preparation for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, with the aim of improving road conditions, enhancing commuter safety, and ensuring smooth traffic movement during the annual pilgrimage.
As per the official order, the affected stretch of NH-44 will remain closed from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM on the following nights:
- June 12–13, 2026
- June 14–15, 2026
- June 16–17, 2026
Authorities have directed the Project Director, NHAI Ramban, to complete the relaying works within the stipulated timeframe and ensure all necessary safety measures are in place. These include the installation of cautionary signboards, barricades, and proper traffic management systems at the work sites.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ramban, and the SSP Traffic, NH-44 have been instructed to strictly implement the order and make suitable arrangements for traffic regulation during the closure period.
Commuters, transport operators, and travelers planning to use the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway have been advised to schedule their journeys accordingly and cooperate with authorities to avoid inconvenience
