SRINAGAR, June 13, 2026 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday attended the launch ceremony of the e-edition of the Collected Works of Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, paying rich tributes to the revered nationalist leader, educationist, social reformer, and visionary institution-builder.

The event, organized in Srinagar, marked a significant step towards making Mahamana’s ideas and writings accessible to a wider audience through digital platforms. The Lieutenant Governor lauded the efforts of the Mahamana Malaviya Mission for undertaking the initiative and preserving the intellectual legacy of one of modern India’s most influential thinkers.

“Given the increased accessibility of digital content in today’s era, I am confident that this initiative will ensure seamless and universal access to the timeless wisdom of Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Addressing the gathering on the theme “Viksit Bharat and Jammu Kashmir: The Relevance of Mahamana’s Vision,” Sinha highlighted Malaviya’s pioneering role in shaping India’s educational, industrial, and cultural foundations and described him as a visionary far ahead of his time.

“Mahamana did not inherit easy paths; instead, he created new pathways for India’s future. While many of his contemporaries debated reforms, he actively worked towards implementing solutions in education, industrial development, national unity, and social upliftment,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor noted that as early as 1904, Malaviya had envisioned a comprehensive educational framework aimed at producing engineers, scientists, and skilled professionals capable of making India prosperous and self-reliant.

“He emphasized holistic education integrating engineering, industrial manufacturing, chemical sciences, agricultural research, indigenous handicrafts, handloom traditions, arts, and India’s cultural-spiritual heritage. More than a century later, many of these ideas are finding expression through the National Education Policy,” Sinha remarked.

Highlighting the contemporary relevance of Mahamana’s vision, the Lieutenant Governor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development agenda reflects many of the principles advocated by Malaviya, particularly in the areas of education, skill development, self-reliance, and nation-building.

“Mahamana sought to strengthen the nation through education aligned with industrial needs. Today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving ahead with renewed confidence and determination despite global economic challenges,” he said.

Referring to developments in Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha stated that the Union Territory has emerged as a leading example in implementing many of Malaviya’s ideals.

“A historic industrial transformation has taken place in Jammu and Kashmir. The New Industrial Policy introduced in 2021 has attracted unprecedented investment, exceeding the cumulative industrial investments witnessed over the previous seven decades,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also emphasized that principles of national unity, social harmony, women-led development, and inclusive growth, championed by Mahamana, are increasingly reflected in Jammu and Kashmir’s developmental journey.

Calling upon the youth to play a proactive role in nation-building, Sinha outlined five key pillars for personal and national progress:

  1. Continuous acquisition of knowledge and skills aligned with changing industrial and technological needs.
  2. Commitment to integrity, honesty, and ethical values.
  3. Development of an entrepreneurial mindset.
  4. Active participation in community service.
  5. Promotion of national unity, social harmony, and collaborative growth.

“The future belongs to those who continuously learn, innovate, serve society, and contribute towards strengthening the nation,” he said.

The event was attended by Prabhu Narain Srivastava and Kamal Nain Rai, Patrons of the Mahamana Malaviya Mission; Hari Shankar Singh, President of the Mission; Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu; Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir; Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir; along with senior academicians, faculty members, civil administration officials, and police officers.

The launch of the digital edition is expected to make Mahamana Malaviya’s writings more accessible to students, researchers, policymakers, and the general public, ensuring that his ideas continue to inspire future generations.
