📅 July 03, 2026 : In a major counter-terrorism operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested eight persons for their alleged links with the Pakistan-based banned terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The arrests were made during coordinated raids across various districts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, officials said on Friday.
According to the Gujarat ATS, the accused were allegedly working to establish an active terror network in Gujarat on behalf of the banned outfit. Investigators believe the operation has dealt a significant blow to the group’s alleged efforts to expand its activities in the region.
An ATS official stated that all eight accused were apprehended on Thursday following intelligence-led operations carried out at multiple locations.
“The arrested individuals are members of the banned terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed and were actively working on its behalf to set up an active terror network in Gujarat,” the official said.
Following the arrests, the Gujarat ATS registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation is currently underway to determine the extent of the alleged network, identify other possible associates, examine financial and communication links, and ascertain whether the accused had established contacts with handlers across the border.
Security agencies are also probing whether the suspects were involved in recruitment, radicalisation, logistics, or any other activities linked to terrorist operations.
Officials have not disclosed additional operational details at this stage, citing the ongoing investigation.
The latest operation underscores the continued vigilance of security agencies against attempts by banned terrorist organisations to establish networks and disrupt public safety in the country.
