Jammu, July 28, 2026 : The Jammu administration on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive review of security and logistical preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, with senior civil and police officials finalizing plans to ensure a safe, smooth and grand celebration across the Jammu Division.
The high-level meeting was chaired by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and co-chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti.
The meeting was attended by the Jammu-Samba-Kathua Deputy Inspector General of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police from all districts of Jammu Division, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and senior officers from various departments, including School Education, Power Development, Traffic Police and other line departments.
Focus on Grand & Well-Coordinated Celebrations
Officials held detailed discussions on ensuring that the 79th Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2026, are conducted in a grand, well-organized and dignified manner across the region.
The review covered key arrangements, including:
- Comprehensive security deployment
- Traffic management and parking plans
- Parade and ceremonial preparations
- Cultural programmes
- Stage setup and venue management
- Lighting and power supply
- Drinking water facilities
- Medical and emergency services
- Sanitation and cleanliness
- Public convenience at all venues
Special attention was given to preparations at M.A. Stadium, Jammu, the main venue for the official celebrations, as well as district headquarters across the division.
Public Safety Top Priority
Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar directed all departments to complete their assigned responsibilities well in advance and maintain close coordination to ensure seamless execution of the celebrations.
He emphasized that the safety, security and convenience of the public must remain the highest priority while also ensuring strict adherence to protocol, discipline and punctuality during all official events.
Foolproof Security & Traffic Plan
Briefing the meeting, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti assured that foolproof security arrangements would be implemented at the main venue and surrounding areas to ensure peaceful celebrations.
He also announced that a comprehensive traffic management plan would be put in place to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and ensure hassle-free access for the public, invitees, participants and officials on Independence Day.
The administration reiterated its commitment to delivering secure, well-coordinated and memorable Independence Day celebrations across the Jammu Division.
