RAJOURI/JAMMU, August 17, 2026 : A teenage boy was killed and 12 people were injured after a multi-vehicle collision in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.
The accident took place at Tandwal near Rajouri town along the Jammu-Poonch National Highway, triggering a chain collision involving several vehicles.
Chain Collision Involves Multiple Vehicles
According to officials, the incident began when a two-wheeler collided with a taxi and an auto-rickshaw.
The impact caused the three-wheeler to subsequently ram into five parked cars, resulting in a major pile-up.
A total of 13 people, including three boys travelling on the two-wheeler, were injured in the accident.
Teenager Dies, Injured Shifted to GMC
The injured were immediately taken to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for treatment.
One teenage boy succumbed to his injuries, while the remaining 12 injured persons were admitted for medical care.
Authorities are expected to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the collision as further details emerge.
The accident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety and traffic management along the Jammu-Poonch highway, where heavy vehicle movement and busy roadside areas can increase the risk of serious collisions.
