SHIMLA, SEPTEMBER 04, 2026 : Heavy rainfall continued to disrupt normal life across Himachal Pradesh, with 102 roads closed in different parts of the state. The Shimla Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert, warning of heavy rain at isolated places on Saturday.
Several areas recorded significant rainfall since Thursday evening. Nahan in Sirmaur received 67.3 mm, followed by Jogindarnagar 57 mm, Nadaun 52.6 mm, and Jatton Barrage and Bharwain 40 mm each.
Thunderstorms and lightning were also reported in Kangra and Sundernagar. The weather office has forecast a continued wet spell across Himachal Pradesh until September 9.
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Mandi has reported the highest number of road closures with 46, followed by Kullu 22, Sirmaur 11, Kangra 8, Una 4, Chamba 3, Shimla 3, Solan 3, Lahaul-Spiti 1 and Bilaspur 1.
The adverse weather has also affected essential services, with 125 power transformers and 21 water-supply schemes reported damaged or disrupted.
Since the beginning of the monsoon on June 30, 2026, at least 108 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents across the state. Officials estimate the cumulative damage to Himachal Pradesh at approximately ₹1,235 crore.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as more rainfall is expected over the coming days.
