NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 04, 2026 : Delhi Police has busted a multi-state cyber fraud network allegedly involved in routing cheated money through multiple bank accounts and shell firms, arresting six people, including the alleged main handler.

The accused have been identified as Chetan Sehrawat, Shakti Gurjar, Dharmender Kumar, Tarun, Deepak and Gaurav Kadian.

According to police, the investigation began after a suspicious bank account was detected through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. The account had allegedly received cheated money connected to complaints registered in Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

Investigators found that mule bank accounts were allegedly opened in the names of unsuspecting individuals on the pretext of providing jobs or salaries. These accounts were then allegedly used to receive, transfer and withdraw proceeds of cyber fraud.

Police identified Chetan Sehrawat as the alleged main handler of the network. Investigators said the accused allegedly operated bank accounts and firms under different names to move the cheated funds.

The racket has been linked to 89 complaints involving approximately ₹83.23 crore in alleged fraud. Timely legal action enabled authorities to put ₹1.14 crore on hold.

Police said Sehrawat allegedly fled to Thailand and later Dubai following registration of the FIR. A Look-Out Circular (LOC) was issued, leading to his arrest at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.

Another accused, Tarun, allegedly attempted to flee to Dubai but was intercepted at Mumbai International Airport with the assistance of the LOC.

During the operation, police seized 12 mobile phones, 109 cheque books, bank-account documents, firm-registration papers, PAN and other identity documents, and cash-deposit slips.

Investigators are also probing a possible cryptocurrency angle in the alleged fraud network.

The case highlights the growing use of mule accounts, shell entities and digital financial channels to move proceeds of cybercrime across multiple states.
