NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 23, 2026 ; The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) disposed of more than 59,000 public grievances and appeals between November 2025 and August 2026, according to data released by the ministry as it prepares for Special Campaign 6 aimed at reducing administrative pendency, improving record management and promoting cleaner government workplaces.
The ministry said it disposed of 52,050 public grievances and 7,410 appeals during the 10-month period. It also cleared 299 references from Members of Parliament, 336 references from state governments and seven references from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Special Campaign 6
The data was released ahead of the ministry’s participation in Special Campaign 6, organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).
The campaign’s preparatory phase runs from September 15 to September 30, 2026, while the implementation phase is scheduled from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The campaign focuses on reducing pendency, strengthening record management and improving cleanliness and workplace conditions in government offices.
The ministry said particular attention would be given to field and outstation offices that interact directly with the public, with an emphasis on sustainable and environment-friendly workplaces while addressing pending matters.
761 Cleanliness Campaigns Conducted
During the 10-month period, the MHA and its attached and subordinate organisations conducted 761 cleanliness campaigns.
The ministry and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) also freed 1,02,084 square feet of office space, according to the statement.
The ministry said CAPFs and Central Police Organisations have been sensitised about the campaign and encouraged to work towards its targets.
Digital Monitoring
The MHA is using an intra-Ministry portal through which its divisions, Union Territories and Delhi Police upload campaign-related data.
The system is being used to coordinate and consolidate information relating to cleanliness drives, pending references, grievances and other campaign activities.
