Ganderbal:- Heavy rainfall in the Kangan area of Ganderbal has led to severe waterlogging, submerging the Hassanabad Road and causing significant inconvenience to the residents and commuters. The continuous downpour over the past few days has overwhelmed the drainage system, resulting in large pools of water accumulating on the road.
Local residents expressed their frustration with the situation, highlighting that waterlogging has been a recurring problem in the area. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, no permanent solution has been implemented to address the inadequate drainage infrastructure.
“The road becomes impassable every time it rains heavily. We have been urging the authorities to take necessary measures to prevent such situations, but nothing significant has been done so far,” said a local resident.
The waterlogged road has disrupted daily activities, with vehicles struggling to navigate the flooded area, and pedestrians finding it difficult to commute. The situation has also raised concerns about the potential health hazards posed by stagnant water, which can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other pests.
Residents are now calling for immediate action from the local administration to address the issue. They are urging the authorities to improve the drainage system and ensure regular maintenance to prevent future occurrences of waterlogging in the area.
In response to the situation, local officials have assured the public that they are working on a temporary solution to drain the water and restore normalcy. However, residents are demanding a long-term plan to prevent such incidents from recurring.
The recent rainfall has also caused similar issues in other parts of the Ganderbal district, highlighting the need for comprehensive measures to address waterlogging and improve infrastructure across the region.
