Jammu, Jun 24,2025 : Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a notorious interstate drug kingpin from Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
According to a police spokesperson, the accused—Dhani Ram, a resident of Salooni village in Chamba—was wanted in a case under multiple sections of the NDPS Act registered at Chenani Police Station in Udhampur. Based on technical, financial, and oral evidence, Ram was found to be involved in drug trafficking for over a decade.
“In view of his persistent criminal activities, Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been invoked—marking a first in an NDPS case,” the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, police in Kathua arrested a drug peddler, Ashiq Ali of Ladwal village, with 6.99 grams of heroin during a checkpoint at Link Road Khanpur in Marheen area. He has been booked under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
